on Council
There were many questions directed to The Westerner staff in regard to the fact that Maine West did not have a mock election.

IT SEEMS THAT Student Council confronted the administration without any definite plans. Instead of organizing and presenting a formal plan, the idea was not pursued any further. In a recent editorial in The Westerner, it stated that the opinions of today's young people do have merit and that mock elections have a definite impact on adults of the community.

Out of five high schools in this area, Maine West was the only school that did not conduct an election. It appears that Student Council neglected its obligation to the student body.
ALL STUDENTS are invited to visit Student Council. Anyone with a first-period study hall may obtain a hall pass from Mr. Larew Collister for any Thursday morning.

There will be an Interim League Conference at Forest View on Nov. 14th. The Northeast District Convention of Student Councils will meet on Nov. 21st to elect officers. Members of Student Council are also attending an inter-racial conference on Nov. 11th.

THE SOCIAL Committee of Council is considering the idea of regular record hops for the entire student body. The idea was approved by the administration if the record hops are well-organized and if there could be a way to curb "vulgar' dancing. The question now is "What is the definition of vulgar dancing?"
