Girls distract dick's attention |
||||||||||
| (Editor's note: The following letter was sent to Ten Prochaska '65, from Dick Heller who is currently participating in the AFS program in the Netherlands.) Dear Ten, The first thing I want to say is that the gymnasium here is not, I repeat IS NOT an all boys' school! Besides female matrons and some female teachers, we have real, live dress-wearing girls that even sit in the same classes we guys do and even distract our attentions sometimes as real girls do. A contrary statement as appeared in The Westerner (so I'm told) is false, and I'm surprised you'd let something like that go into print. Are you trying to scare the guys out of becoming AFSers? Last weekend I was at Carla's home in Wasseraar. Chris came down from Appledorn (a small town about 30 km |
north of Arnhem where he's stationed in the Army); and then after dinner, we took the train to Wasseraar. The next day Chris and I went through Rotterdam Harbor in a boat. Next week, there's another thing on the agenda; the entire sixth form (last year) of the gymnasium is going to Paris and well, need I say more? Ah, the heavy responsibilities of being an AFSer. We'll be staying in an old castle about 20 km southwest of Paris. I got The Westerner you sent me; I'm sorry about the first football game, but I've heard they've picked up some now. Tell them good luck for me. Also I wish the best of luck to the cross country team. I couldn't help noticing that this class of '65 which just four years ago was in the same helpless position as this year's freshmen, really seems to be taking over the reigns of the school. Heartiest Greetings from Arnhem, Dick |
