Intramurals

A fast field of four seniors and six juniors competed in the annual intramural junior-senior cross country run last week. Pacing the Senior Class was Greg Kirishian with Rob Reinhart, Alan Bruhn, and George Burgess finishing second, third, and fourth, respectively.

Phil Martin ran the mile in a blistering 4:40, 22 seconds ahead of his nearest opponent, to win the junior cross country title. Ed Henry, Steve Hendren, Burt Lucas, LeRoy Peterson, and Mike McDermott finished behind Martin in the order listed.

Golf

Charlie Shriver beat Garry Willcox in a close match to win the intramural Senior Class golf tournament.

Football

The final intramural touch football game was played since the last printing of The Westerner. Coach Carlini's sixth period boys won the Freshman Class touch football tournament.
GAA News

The faculty beat the junior girls in an exciting hockey match on Oct. 28th.

The results of the track and field meet of Oct. 26th were (first): 100-yard dash, Carol Hendren (13.9 seconds); 50-yard dash, Carol Hendren (6.9 seconds); team relay, Dolores Webster, Ruth Christian, Carol Hendren, and Margie Gasteler (58.7 seconds); high jump, Terrie Sassmann (4 feet 1.5 inches); shot put, Barb Gray (27 feet 2 inches); broad jump, Dolores Webster (16 feet 10 inches); 'softball throw, Ruth Christian (152 feet).

Oct. 29th marked the date of the GAA-faculty archery match. The winning shooters at 20 yards were Kathy Kallstrand (58 points) and Miss Clark (68 points). The winning shots at 30 yard's were made by Miss Bovenmeyer (52 points) and Mary Lou Burgess (24 points).

A GAA swim-playnight is planned for Nov. 10th. All GAA member's are invited.
