Runners Capture Conference Championship

Saturday, the varsity harriers took third place in the highly contested Ridgewood District. Although the team won't be able to go downstate now, this showing was far from bad. There are 21 teams in the district and each team brings their best runners. Last year, the Warriors captured a fifth place in a field of 18, This shows tremendous improvement on their part this year.

Greco finished first with a time of 9:10, followed by Schlegel, who took 18th place. Kinder captured the 19th spot, and Labadie and Flurkey came in 26th and 27th respectively. Greco will run in the state finals today and tomorrow at Urbana.

York won the meet with a score of 36; Glenbard East took second with 81 points; third was Maine West with a score of 91.
On Oct. 27th the thinclads hosted Prospect. They made another nearly perfect score by beating the Knights 15-49. Greco finished first with a time of 10:00, followed by Schiegel, 10: 17; Kinder, 10:23; Labadie, 10:24; Johnstone, 10:26; Flurkey, 10:32; Schneider (P), 10:34; Bokor, 10:38; Kehrer, 10:39; and Zografos, 10:39. Greco's time of 10:00 broke the course record.

The Mid-Suburban Conference meet was held on Oct. 23rd. Maine West was an easy victor. The first seven Maine runners were Greco, 10:04; Schlegel, 10:20; Lusk, 10:29; Kehrer, 10:30; Labadie, 10:32; Flurkey, 10:32; Flurkey, 10:32; and Johnstone, 10:43.

Frosh, Sophs Take Conference

The frosh-soph harriers won the conference title last Friday by scoring a 44 victory over the eight other schools that com-peted. Pacing them to victory were Doug Chase, who finished second with a time of 10:58, and Scott Hooson, who finished fourth with a time of 11:13.
