Bob directs the band while
nancy leads the majorettes

One of the most talented students at Maine West is 5-foot 11-inch Bob Cizek. Bob was this year's drum major for the national - award -winning Maine West Marching Band.

Bob's favorite subject is chemistry, even though he hopes to major in music at Indiana University. Being music director of V-Show is only one of Bob's many activities. He is an active member of the Northwest Symphony and of Show Band in which he plays the French horn.

If Bob could change anything about school it would be his class rank. Bob says that he has most benefited from a course in theory.

Making a big mistake on the football field with the marching band was his most embarrassing moment. His most exciting experience was being in last year's V-Show.

Bob thinks Maine's spirit is at its best this year. Improvements are badly needed in the indoor track, but the music department he thinks is the greatest.

As a life guard last summer, Bob was taking part in his favorite outdoor activity, swimming.

His favorite year has been his senior, because he has had more musical opportunities.

Bob, whose bad habit is whistling, hates people with greasy hair.

Bob is looking forward to V -Show and South Pacific in which he will take part.
Seventeen years old, auburn hair, mysterious, dark-brown eyes, and 5 feet 4 inches tall is the description of this year's Twirling Corps captain, Nan Franczkowski.

Her favorite expression is "Hi ya!" She adores intelligent, tall, and polite people; and she'd like to be taller herself. Her pet peeve is "people who feel sorry for themselves and don't do anything about it." Her most annoying habit is the way she sways back and forth when she stands. When asked what her most embarrassing moment was, she quickly replied, "When I lost my uniform skirt in a parade!"

She thinks the best thing about Maine is that students are given so many opportunities. She also feels that Maine's teenagers are "great" and that their worst fault is that they don't take advantage of all the opportunities offered.

Nan takes advantage of the extra-curricular activities. She has been a twirler for four years. She was captain of the Twirling Corps in her junior year and solo twirler this year. She was Pep Club treasurer in her freshman year and president of Pep Club in her sophomore year.

Her personal opinion on school spirit is "very good for the school's size and number of peo-ple." She thinks smoking is up to the individual and going steady is "okay, if you understand its meaning." She doesn't think "social security" is a good reason for a steady.

She's proud that she has known so many intelligent people and wishes she could have met many more. She likes her senior year best because she can look back on her other years and see all her accomplishments. Besides looking back, she can see her future clearer because it's so close. Her future involves going to college, since she hopes to become an elementary school teacher.
