Around the Campus

Tomorrow, Nov. 21st, the Student Council will send another delegation to the Northwest District Conference at York Township High School in Elmhurst to participate in the election of officers for the district.

On Veteran's Day, Nov. 11th, 13 members of Student Council attended the all-day Inter-group Relations Conference at Senn High School in Chicago. The theme of the conference was, "Fight Prejudice, and Apathy Through Information, Stimulation, Action."

About 500 students from 45 schools in the Chicago area attended the conference. Representing Maine were Dan Colvin '65, John Congalton '65, Diane Dormeyer '65, Carla Fasting '65, (Maine West AFS student), Joyce Humay '65, Bruce Jacobsen '65, Mary Jefferson '65, Lynn Johnson '65, Bob Kunkle '65, Kathy Owen '65, Marilyn Skeppstrom '65, Mark Sorenson '65, and Lynne Struebing '66.
School will be dismissed at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25th for Thanksgiving vacation. Classes will be resumed the follow-ing Monday morning, Nov. 30th. If your family is going out of town for the holiday you should see your counselor about being excused for the extra days you will miss.

Fifty members of the A Cappella Choir will attend a performance of the Vivaldi "Gloria" Nov. 27th at Orchestra Hall in Chicago. It will be presented by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. This "Gloria" is the same cantata that will be sung by the A Cappella Choir at the Christmas Concert.
