Nurses doctor ill students

Two of the busiest people at Maine West are Mrs. Francis Ringl and Mrs. Bernice Gundelach, the nurses.

Mrs. Ringl received her RN at Piedmont Hospital School of Nursing. She also sponsors the Future Nurses' Club.

Mrs. Gundelach graduated from t h e Michael Reese School of Nursing with an RN. Both nurses have had additional preparation in public health. The nurses' office in B-wing is in constant use. Last month alone over 600 people reported there. The major reasons were digestive and respiratory disturbances.
Not only do the nurses attend injured or ill students, they also hold health conferences and give vision and hearing tests.

No treatment is given at the office, and no medicine is prescribed. If students need medication, it is suggested that they bring their own. Also, students returning to school after an extended illness, hospitalization, or a communicable disease are required to report to the nurses' office.

"We suggest all students get plenty of rest and begin the day with a good breakfast," said Mrs. Ringl. The nurses feel students will enjoy school and accomplish more.
