| Stoney Jackson is 6 feet 2 inches and 170 pounds of concentrated athlete. He claims that the hardest part about training is getting in shape, but his athletic achievements indicate that he has no problem in doing so. He has earned four varsity letters, two in football and one each in basketball and baseball. He has also been named to last year's Mid-Suburban All-Conference baseball team and this year's Mid-Suburban All-Conference football squad. Stoney's most thrilling moments were being the starting pitcher in last year's Sectional baseball game against Rock. ford and scoring two touchdowns in this year's Homecoming game against Forest View. |
"Obedience and respect for the coaches" are the qualities Stoney has developed through his participation in athletics here at Maine West. Of the three sports in which he participates, Stoney likes basketball the most, since "the practices are more like game situations.'' In spite of being soft-spoken, Stoney does have a couple of pet peeves. One is being called "Andy;" the other occurs during practice when a certain football coach says, "Let's run through that play one more time," and winds up holding the team 15 minutes over the usual practice time. |
