Concert Opens Season |

| To keep in tune with the Christmas season, the Maine West Music Department will present its annual Christmas Concert at 8 p.m. in the school auditorium on Dec. 11th. The concert will provide an outstanding presentation of choral and instrumental Christmas music. Several of the arrangements were made by Mr. Jared Spears of the Music Department. The concert will consist of Boys' and Girls' Glee Clubs, Girls' Choruses, Choraliers, A Cappella Choir, and Junior and Concert Orchestras. The highlight of the evening will be the Gloria Patri, by narrator, David Humphreys '65. Choraliers The 16 Choraliers will sing "Carol of the Bells" and "Behold That Star." Soprano soloists for A Cappella Choir are Chris Birchfield '66, Carol Bissing '65, Carolyn Rohrbach '66, and Barbara Schell '65, Alto soloists are Laura Nelson '66, Susan Perry '66, Linda Pinski '67, and Carolyn Relph '66. Mrs. Paul Nettinger, piano teacher from Skokie, will be the organist and Karen Flavin '65, the pianist for A Cappella Choir. The 60 boys and girls from A Cappella Choir will be singing "Vivaldi's Gloria." |
Orchestra Selections Some of the selections the Concert Orchestra will play are "Cinderella Waltz," "Christmas Fugue," "Waltz of the Flowers," and "Symphony No. 1." Soloists for Concert Orchestra are Roberta Wells '65, Pamela Holmgren '66, and Carol Copeland '65. Joyce Sorensen '65, will play the harpsichord, a popular 16th and 17th century instrument. Girls' Glee Club will sing "Do You Hear What I Hear?" and "Alleluja," with Mary Franzen '67, and Judy Sadowski '66, as soprano soloists. Boys' Glee Club will be singing "Bamboo," "Twas the Night Before Christmas," and "White Christmas." Accompanists are Karen Flavin '65, on the piano, Jim Kahn '65, on the guitar, LaDonna Miller '65, on bass, and David Thinnes '65, and Bob Burgess '66, on the drums. "Rudolph" Played Junior Orchestra will open the concert with "A Folk Fantasia," "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer," and a selection from "Hansel and Gretel." "Ye Watchers and Ye Holy Ones," and "Ding-Dong! Merrily on High," will be sung by combined Girls' Choruses. Tickets will be $1 for adults and 75 cents for children. |
