Oglethorpe is pep mascot |
||||||||||
| By Cheryl Bard Do you know who Oglethorpe is? I just had an exclusive interview with him, and he's the greatest! Say, I just had a great idea . . . Ill let you hear part of our conversation. It went something like this: I put forth the first question. "Who are you, Oglethorpe?" He hesitated before answering. "Well, you might say that I'm the mascot for Pep Club." "Oh really? Well, maybe you can help me then. What, exactly, is Pep Council, and who's in it?'' No hesitation this time. "Pep Council is like WOW! Really, it's the executive board of Pep Club, and its purpose is to unite the organizations that were formed to promote spirit and pep in our school. This year the pep comes in a pretty package, and I mean pretty. Take for instance, the president, Joyce Humay '65, and the vicepresident, Jerri Walsh '65. Also, there is the secretary-treasurer, Mary Jefferson '65, and the point-chairmen, Gloria Frank '65, and Sherry Catardi '67. |
Do you want to hear more? Okay. There are also the committee chairmen-Melody Morrison '65, sportsmanship; Clare Weretka '65, social committee; and Cheryl Bard '67, publicity. And guess what? There's even more! Diane De Franco '65, and Sandy Bouda '65, captain and co-captain of the Pom Porn Squad, Chris Peterson '65, and Sandy Kunkel '65, captain and co-captain for the Varsity cheerleaders, and Nancy Gunn '67, and Pat Radlein '67, captain and co-captain of the JV cheerleaders, and Dee Vrastik, freshman representative, are all members too. Last but not least, there's me! Now how about you doing a little talking, I'm like all talked out." "Well, after that inspiring talk I must say I was left speechless, but fortunately I recuperated in time to thank him for his time. About all I can add is, like these PEP kids are the greatest; and I hope Oglethorpe and I have helped you to get acquainted with Pep Council. As Oglethorpe would say, "They're like the greatest, man!" |
