| Jim Cichowski's pet peeve is the basketball players who won't let the wrestlers use their shower room! "Chick" or Ski," as Jim is known around the mats, finds practices hard and says that keeping in a weight class is, perhaps, the most difficult part of wrestling. His most exciting moment came last year, competing in the District semi-final match. Even though he lost the match to an opponent from Prospect, who had beaten him before, it was a thrill Jim will long remember. Had he won this match, Jim would have gone to the Sectionals. Jim explained, "It's not the winning or losing that counts, it's the desire to participate and compete with fellows your own age. It's a challenge - especially wrestling where it's man against man." |
Wrestling, he feels, is a demanding combination of sacrifice and hard work. "When you're out for a sport," says Jim, "naturally it's a little hard to keep up, but if you're interested in the sport, you'll manage." "Ski" is looking forward to wrestling in the Districts and, possibly the Sectionals, but the real success of the season depends on how the team does in regular meets. Jim thinks that Pep Club is doing a good job this year, but of course, he'd like to see more people at the meets. The 5-foot 10-inch tall, 165 pound wrestler likes the way he lives. Other than sports, he has no hobbies except for playing cards and going out with Linda." Jim hopes to major in business administration at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Football is his favorite sport, and he would like to earn a football scholarship. A trip to Florida during spring vacation and college are among things to which Jim is looking forward. |
