Two Seniors Honored for Citizenship |

| Sandy Kunkel and John Bleharski, both seniors, have been selected as winners of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and Sons of the Amerian Revolution Citizenship Awards. Last week the members of the Senior Class nominated three boys and three girls for the awards, considering the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism that their nominees have demonstrated in the past. Monday, Dec. 14th, the faculty was asked to vote for one boy and one girl who they believed were best-qualified as good citizens. Sandy and John will represent Maine West in further statewide and nationwide competition. |
Sandy has been very active in organizations at Maine in the past. She has been a cheerleader for three years and is a member of GAA. This year she is a senior leader. Sandy has also served on Student Council for three years and was elected to Brotherhood Society. John has also been very active in Maine's organizations. In this, his third year on Student Council, he was elected president. In his sophomore year, he was president of his class. John played on the football team in his freshman and sophomore years. He was on the High Honor Roll for three years and last year was elected to the National Honor Society. He is also a member of Brotherhood Society. |
