Stagecrafters manage stage |
||||||||||
| "Is everything ready? Lights! Sound! Music! Curtains!" This question might be heard back stage at the Shubert Theater on the opening night of a play. Actually it is the Maine West stage, light, and sound crews getting ready for coming school productions. Almost every night during the week before any production, the Stagecrafters are busily working, painting scenery, or coordinating lights. Active members of Stagecrafters are Leroy Peterson '66, Peter Perri '65, Ellen Geiger '66, Phillip Reich '66, Dennis Steinke '65, Mark Weaver '67, John Schenk '65, Bob Pierce '65, Al Norton '65, and Carol Buttner '66. The officers of Stagecraft ers are Leroy Peterson '66, president; Peter Perri '65, vice-president; and Ellen Geiger '66, secretary. |
Under the supervision of Mr. Robert Pelikan, the lighting crew supplies the general lighting as well as special effects. The stage crew operates the curtains, erects all sets, and moves them on and off the stage during plays and concerts. The Variety Show and the musical "South Pacific" are the chief projects coming up for the Stagecrafters this year. The Stagecrafters crew must have imagination. For instance, if an actor forgets his lines and steps into the wrong spot, he may find himself without a spotlight. The crew must coordinate their work with the action of the actors, and keep the show running smoothly. |
