| An elated Debbie Quinn '65 was crowned Des Plaines Junior Miss on Thursday, Dec. 10th. Dawn Rae Piotter '65, also of Maine West, was chosen as first runner-up. This year's contest is the first of its kind to be sponsored in the Des Plaines area. The Des Plaines Jaycees plan to sponsor the Junior Miss Pageant again next year, and to eventually turn it into an annual event. The participants were chosen from a group of girls coming from the Maine Township High School district, which includes Des Plaines and Park Ridge. |
Myrna Pederson '65, was chosen to represent the Park Ridge area. The girls were recommended by their high school principals. Then they were put through a series of interviews. They were judged for poise, scholarship, and mental alertness, and they were interviewed on current events and many other topics. On Jan. 22nd, and 23rd, Deb will travel to Oak Park for the Illinois State Junior Miss Contest. The state winner will then go on to the national contest, which will take place in Mobile, Alabama. |
