Grapplers To Enter Lake Park Quadrangular Meet on Dec. 30 |

| The varsity grapplers enter the Lake Park Quadrangular wrestling meet on Dec. 30th. The first session of wrestling will begin at 2 p.m., and the second session at 7 p.m. Warrior grapplers found the Prospect Knights a tough opponent dropping the meet, 21-17. Maine won five of the 12 matches with Mordue and Ploshay winning their fifth matches of the season. Ploshay pinned his opponent and Cichowski, Mordue, Ryden, and Stamborski won by decisions. All of the other Warriors lost by decisions which consequently might cost Maine the Conference crown. Last Friday the Warriors defeated Glenbrook South 26-12. Victories for the Westmen went to Ploshay, 103 pounds; Krumpos, 112 pounds; Deahr, 120 pounds; Rozanski, 127 pounds; Stamborski, 133 pounds; Hansch, 138 pounds; Kautz, 145 pounds; and Cichowski, 165 pounds. Hansch was the only Warrior to pin his opponent. |
Mordue, Stamborski, Cichowski, and Kruse were the only Warriors to win against East Leyden. Leyden defeated the Warriors 26-15. Mordue won his third match in a row by pinning his opponent. Maine West whipped the Panthers of Proviso West 23-15 on Dec. 5th. Mordue, Ploshay, Krumpos, Deahr, Stamborski, Cichowski, and Praxmarer won for Maine. Mordue stretched his winning streak to four straight. JV's Win, Lose The JV matmen split decisions in their latest meets. The Warriors whipped GB South 30-16, but dropped a heartbreaker to Proviso West, 25-23. Sophs Take Two The sophomore team was victorious in its meets with East Leyden and GB South. The Warriors won both meets easily. Greg Dolphin has a 3-0 record, winning all three of his matches by pins. |
