CHRISTMAS VACATION begins next week, but the holiday is always one of the busiest of the year for the Maine West basketball team. This year, for the third season in a row, the Warriors will again attend the Proviso West Christmas tournament. In their two previous visits, the Westmen have placed second to both Morton West and Proviso East.

AS IN THE past, the first game (this year against West Leyden) will be played on Dec. 26th. This year the Warriors will play in the fifth of eight scheduled first round games, so they will take to the nets at about 4 p.m. Should the cagers overpower the Leyden five, they will have to prove themselves against either La Grange or Downers Grove. At the present time, the favorite seems to be La Grange.

ASSUMING the Mainites pass the second round test, they would advance to play in all probability either Proviso East or Elgin. Again, if the Warriors managed to get through the third game, the championship match would be against one of eight teams from the opposite bracket. Likely candidates are Morton East or Glenbrook South. In any event, if the West quintet can survive the ordeal at Proviso, they should be ready for anything.

SENIOR MEMBERS of the varsity football and cross-country team received an added treat a few days ago. The members of the team received a folder containing a certificate on one side and a picture of their squad on the other. The folder, much like an autograph "Maine Township High School West" embossed in gold across the front. It is a keepsake which will be treasured for many years. The picture was paid for by the M-Club and the folder was furnished by the Athletic Department.
