Reading Club Offers Clinic

All juniors in accelerated classes will take the Sigma Chi Sigma test for reading ability," said Miss Margaret Johnson, reading clinic director and sponsor of Sigma Chi Sigma.

On Jan. 25th, juniors will have a chance to see what improvement is needed to complete the reading section for the National Merit Examination. She also urged any other students who desire information on their reading ability to take this test in room A-112.
Two members recently added to the Silver Club are Chris Eckl '68, and Kenn Hempel '65. In order to become eligible for this distinctive club, a student must reach the 90th percentile in speed, comprehension, and scholarship. This also means reading at a speed of about 375 words per minute.

For the more ambitious students there is the Golden Club, whose members have reached the 99th percentile in comprehension and vocabulary. This requires reading at a speed of about 512 words per minute.
