Nine Students Will Travel to State Festival |
||||||||||
| Music will be penetrating Peoria, Illinois, next Jan. 22nd, and 23rd, when the Illinois Music Education Association will present the All-State Music Activities Festival. Nine students from Maine West will perform in the program. Representing the Northern Illinois District from Maine West in the band will be Jeff Lossau '65, playing the trombone; Al Ripperger '65, baritone; and Dennis Young '66, clarinet. Selected for the orchestra are Bob Cizek '65, playing the horn; Carol Copeland '65, cello; Jon Koumounges '66, viola; Tom Larson '65, string bass; and Roberta Wells '65, violin. Also Donna Carlson '65, will sing soprano in the allstate chorus. |
To qualify for the all-state program, the students first had to compete at Wheaton College Nov. 21st, in the District Music Festival. The participants of the band and the orchestra will have to try out again for chair positions at Peoria. The Pere-Marquette Hotel will house the band and orchestra, and the chorus will stay at the Jefferson Hotel. All the hardworking participants of the program certainly deserve the dance which will be given at the Pere-Marquette Hotel on Friday evening. |
