| Another new year is upon us. As we look back upon 1964 we remember the wonderful times we enjoyed. Perhaps we recall the tragic events or painful memories 1964 brought to us and to all mankind. We complain of the hardships and mishaps we had, but have we ever stopped to consider that maybe blue skies would be brighter with some thunder clouds? If all the problems of our society had been solved in 1964, we would be bored to death in 1965. Problems are food for the mind and the soul of all mankind. People must have hardships to cope with to fulfill their lives. |
We all dream of riches, wealth, and prosperity. We hope that some day we can live in leisure. When we stop to recall and ponder upon all the great men in our history we can see that their greatness was brought by crosses, not crowns. Many of the people in our history have become soft and ruined by crowns, not crosses. As this new year grows old let us (the students of Maine West) search out our problems and try to solve them. A great and learned man, Cardinal Cushing, once said that more men have been blessed through handicaps and adversity that have been perfected by affluence. With this in mind let us all bear our problems with a will to win. |
