Boosters buy mw an organ

"The need for an organ in the Music Department at Maine West was recognized soon after the department was established," says Mr. Kenneth Turner, president of the Maine West Music Boosters. He went on to say, "With the encouragement of Mr. Robert Kuite, chairman of the Music Department, Mr. Paul Rivard, president of the Music Boosters 1960-1961 initiated an organ fund for the school." Part of the proceeds from the Pow-Wow went to the organ fund.

The organ fund was built up further by Music Boosters' presidents, Mrs. Irving McKay and Mr. John Means. In May of 1964, Mr. Means appointed Mr. John Balma, Mr. Arthur Wagar, and
Mr. Virden Waters to serve on the organ committee with Mr. Kuite as adviser for the Music Department. They were to select a new organ to be purchased with the fund.

The organ committee studied a number of organs over a period of several months, and after careful consideration, an organ was selected which has the versatility to meet the school requirements. In addition to availability for use in special events, the organ provides new opportunities to students at Maine West for music instruction.
