| "This year all boys who made 500 points or better on the physical fitness tests will receive a gold star to wear on their gym uniforms," acknowledged Mr. Dave Kennedy. Each gym class takes tests in push-ups, the rope climb, chinups, cross country, 300-yard run, three consecutive jumps standing broad-jump, and the zone run. Points are accumulated through speed, endurance, and agility in the various tests. To obtain a minimum of 500 points, a boy must make approximately 62 out of a possible 75 in each test. |
The following boys were top five of their respective classes: Senior Class: Henry Loncki, 600; Pete Schafft, 589; Pat Collins, 581; Dick Braun, 581; and Jim Richards, 581. Junior Class: Vernon Ray, 595; Dick Wells, 570; Burton Lucas, 569; Ed Borski, 568; and Tony Gyssler, 567.
