THE PAST FEW WEEKS have indeed been wild and woolly for the Maine West basketball teams. Last week the varsity squad managed all sorts of strange things in their 83-25 victory over an all-junior Wheeling quintet. At one stage in the game, the Westmen had hooked up 30 straight points to take a 33-2 lead. By the time the starting five left the floor early in the third period, Jim Smith had dumped in 30 points for the Warriors who then led 56-7.

A FEW WEEKS AGO sophomore Al Fritz hit for 25 points in a Conference game with Glenbrook North which the West cagers won, 50-37. Since then he
has moved up to the junior varsity, where last Friday he tallied 16 points in approximately two periods to help the junior squad to their 59-27 victory.

JUNIOR GUARD Ken Muel-ler has developed into one of the best gunners on either junior varsity or varsity during the past weeks. Ken connected for 28 points in the Willowbrook game, and last week scored 23 against Wheeling.

THE FRESHMEN contributed their share to the scoring parade in a non-Conference battle with New Trier on the 11th. The underclassmen succeeded in posting a 29-0 lead before the Indians could find the mark for their first bucket. The frosh went on to win 54-28.
