Kahn and Committee Work Diligently on Alma Mater

"We picked three alma maters from a book of alma maters and changed them to fit Maine West," revealed Jim Kahn, a 5 foot, 6 inch senior boy who is equipped with talent, ambition, and a future.

The committee for the alma mater consists of Jim Kahn, Brian Dole '65, Harriet Hall '66, and Bruce Jacobsen '65. They have been working diligently for three months to finish the three songs.

Parts are being fitted for a brass quartet, and soon an all school assembly will be held. There we will hear the three selections and vote on the best one.

Jim is a brown-haired, blue eyed scholar who is taking Chemistry II, English IV AP, democracy, government, and trigonometry and analytic geometry.

His most thrilling experience was being in V-Show last year. This year he is looking forward to V-Show again.
When asked what the most outstanding thing here at Maine was, Jim replied, "I think the teachers and the activities are just great!''

Although he teaches guitar outside of school, Jim still wishes he could play the sax.

His best year at Maine has been his senior year, mainly because he is doing more. He really is doing more, too! Besides being in The Notables Quintet, V-Show, Show Band, Student Council, Quill and Scroll, and working on the Legend,

Jim's vice-president of the National Honor Society.

Jim thinks teenagers today tend to conform too much; they should be more individual. Also, he thinks school spirit is pretty bad; there is much to be desired.

After graduation Jim plans to go into medicine. He has applied to Harvard, Michigan State, and the University of Chicago.
