SC Relations Comm. Talks To Students |
||||||||||
| (Editor's note: the following letter was received by a member of Student Council in the hopes that the student body will become better acquainted with the goals of the newly formed Human Relations Committee.) "Brotherhood" - what does it mean? This word is more than a word, it's a spirit; not just a spirit that seems to "blossom forth" in students every year during Brotherhood Week, but a spirit of friendship and nonprejudice which is never-ending. All to often, however, it is in only a few students. Are you one of those students who groans every time Brotherhood Week comes to Maine West? Do you complain that the Brotherhood Society is only a "big clique and a farce?" Maybe it is, and maybe it isn't. Have you ever looked at yourself to see if you're really fostering the true spirit of |
you? If you are, fine. But if you aren't, you better think seriously about improving yourself before you try to improve someone else. Think, and then act. Begin by saying "Hi!" to those you know and even to those you don't know. This may sound ridiculous, but you'd be surprised at the terrific results you'll receive. You, yourself, will start to feel better all over, and others will feel better just being around you to share your warm glow of brotherhood. It may take time to bring the true spirit of brotherhood to all of us Mainites, but after we have it, it will make all the difference in the world. Marilyn Skeppstrom '65 |
