Around the Campus

Dick Leyerle '65, was appointed parliamentarian of the Maine West Student Council last week. This position was held by Rick Fulle '65, last semester. It is now Dick's duty to decide questions concerning the constitution of the Council.

Orders for Sound Sketch, a record with highlights from the '64-'65 school year, have been selling this week in the cafeteria for $3 per album or $1 now and $2 in the spring. Various skits from this year's Variety Show plus highlights from South Pacific will be on the record as will sports, Show Band, Homecoming and election weeks. Record orders will also be taken next week in the cafeteria.

The Student Council Constitution does not state that the secretary needs one year of experience on the Student Council. To run for the position of either president or secretary, a candidate needs only to be a junior with a 2.5 grade average. If you are thinking of running for either office, be sure to start planning your campaign.
Five sophomore girls have been chosen to be members of - Wieboldts' Fashion Board at Randhurst. They will hold this position for a term of six months. Starting her second six-month term is Mary Jefferson '65. The five girls are Sue Buthman, Sharon Klatt, Pat Olson, Janice Walker, and Cheryl Bullerman.

Cheryl Hagedorn '65, is this year's "Voice of Democracy" contest winner from our school. The VFW post 2992, who sponsored the contest, presented Cheryl with a trophy at an award dinner. She was fifth in the district with her speech on "The Challenges of Citizenship."

Student Council is buying an American flag for the cafeteria, and committee members are making signs for the Path. The Citizenship and Service Committee is purchasing Student Council stationery.

Correction: In the last issue the story on the cafeteria gave the credit for the menu design posted in all homerooms to Mr. George Blanas. The person who did the designing was Michael Brennan '66.
