Lost Tomcat Comes Home |
||||||||||
| By Kenn Hempel Inkspot has come home after 22 months. A black-and-white tomcat, he disappeared from his master, Rick Haisler '65, in March, 1963. Rick and Inkspot had been getting along fine until that fatal day in March when friends from California came to visit Rick and his family. These friends brought with them a large white German Shepherd, which Inkspot didn't seem to like and for which he showed his dissatisfaction by running away. He hung around the neighborhood for a few days but couldn't be coaxed back home. After a few more days he dropped from sight altogether. |
Nothing more was seen of him until a few weeks ago when Rick was in the back yard. Walking up the sidewalk with his tail held high was Inkspot, dirty, tired, and bedraggled. "He had a few battle scars, and he must have used up a few of his nine lives," admitted Rick, "but it was Inkspot. I guess his roaming days are over. I just wish he could talk and tell us where he has been." From the look on his face, Inkspot doesn't want anyone to know. And it seems that no one ever will. |
