| The varsity trackmen started off the season right by beating Shurz 54-46. Firsts for West were taken by Tom Smith in the hot-put (50 feet 1 inch), John Greco in the half mile (2:02.6), Lloyd Schiegel in the 440-yard dash (53.1 seconds), and Russ Suszko in the mile (4:39.4). Rich Bokor was nosed | out in the 50-yard dash by Lark of Schurz. Both boys had times of 5.6 seconds, however. The 8-lap relay team composed of Bernie Braun, Schiegel, Kevin Flurkey, and Bokor and the 4-lap relay team made up of Braun, Jerry Nebel, Greg Kirishian and Bokor both reigned victorious. | |||||||||
