Tankers To Host Niles N.,
Set Record

Tonight at 7 p.m. the swimmers take on Niles North in what should be one of the closest meets of the season. "A big crowd would sure help the team," said Coach H. G. Baer.

Encountering three tough opponents in the last two weeks, the varsity tankers downed Morton West and Forest View while losing to fifth-ranked-instate Deerfield 23-72 last Friday in the West pool. The Falcons fell to the Warriors 68-27, with Morton West going down 79-16.

Against Deerfield, even though the score seems lopsided, the Warriors achieved more of a victory than Deerfield expected. With the exception of the last relay, Deerfield Coach John Smith had his best lineup in for the meet. The Warriors still managed to
grab a first in the medley relay and seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, the 200-yard individual medley, and the diving.

The highlight of the Forest View meet was sophomore Tom Wenzel's establishment of a new school record in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.6 seconds, tying the Conference record. Junior Reed Erven also set a new school record in the 200-yard individual medley of 2:17.0. Reed brought this down to 2:16.9 against Deerfield.

Morton West proved to be no challenge to the Warriors, seeing the tankers take first in all events, and sweeping all events but the 200-yard individual medley, the diving, and the 100-yard butterfly.
