"Take more interest in Student Council and extra‑curricular activities to make the most of your high school years," advises Student Council President, Bob Burgess. That is one subject that this 5'll" boy with medium brown hair and hazel eyes should know about.
During the last three years "Bubba" has run up a very impressive list of achievements by which to remember Maine West. In his sophomore year he was class president and was honored by election into Brotherhood Society. Last year he served as president of Tri‑M, of which he is also a member, and was elected to National Honor Society. He plays the drums in Concert and Show Bands and has been a SC representative every year except as a junior.
"I didn't run for council in my junior year because I wanted to see what SC looked like to an outsider. Students not on council shouldn't criticize it because of the lack of information they have. They just don't realize the problems we have. I also discovered that the representatives fail to report regularly to homerooms, causing a lack of information."
Last summer Lynne Struebing and he attended the NSC (National Student Councils) Leadership Conference at Camp Cheley in Estes Park. Colorado.
"Loud people" is Bob's pet peeve. "The way the teachers cooperate in SC activities" is what he likes best about Maine West.
This year he is taking English IV AP, calculus, government, and drama. What does the future hold for Bob Burgess? "I'd like to go to Harvard and get my accounting degree and then study law."

Who is the girl that is always seen with the big and sparkling smile on her face? Of course, it's this year's Secretary of Student Council, Lynne Struebing. Lynne stands 5'3" tall, has blue eyes and blonde hair.
An active student, Lynne has been a member of Student Council for four years. She worked on the Legend her sophomore and junior years. Lynne is a member of Quill and Scroll and Brotherhood Society, was the secretary of her Junior Class, participated in V‑Show and Aquiana, and is now a senior leader.
Reading palms is one of Lynne's favorite past times. Her mother has helped her with this hobby, and she has read some books on it, too. Lynne also lists swimming and teaching Sunday school as other hobbies.
When attending Student Council Camp in Colorado, Lynne experienced her most embarrassing moment. As she was coming down a, mountain, after doing some mountain climbing, she forgot to jog up and down; and she fell half way down the mountain!
Lynne is very serious about Student Council, and her pet peeve is people who criticize it because they don't understand it. She states, "If people would spend more time improving themselves and making themselves better, they wouldn't have time to criticize others."
Lynne plans to attend Gustavus‑Aldolphus College in Minnesota and prepare for elementary teaching.
