Warriors Welcome Frosh

"The indoor track! I wanted C‑wing gym." "Help, I can't find my locker!" "Detention? What's that?" "Go see A. K. H. who?" These are typical comments heard coming from the mouths of freshmen during the first few weeks of school. But you can't make fun of the freshmen because even the seniors, who are old hands at finding their way through the halls of Maine, were once confused by the size of it.

Because of the large enrollment of freshmen, their attendance at games and extra‑curricular activities should be good. A good deal of school spirit is needed this year and the freshmen could be a big contributing factor.

Activities begun in your freshman year can help you become a leader in these same activities in your later years at Maine. Interest in activities will help you make more friends and have wider interests.

There are many activities offered at Maine; and if you have any special talent or interest in one, your participation would be a big contribution.

Athletics and extra‑curricular activities are not the only important things in your four years at Maine. The most important is your studies, and they should come first. A common error in the freshman year is overloading yourself with extra activities, so that you do not have time for your studies; and the result will show in your report card.

The courses at Maine are designed to help the student prepare for college or a career of his choice. If, as a freshman, you have any idea as to your future plans, you can take courses which will help you after high school. Counselors, as well as teachers, will give you advice and help to make your decision.
