Maine West Welcomes
Twenty-one Teachers

Another year is underway at Maine and many new faces can be seen throughout the school. Twenty‑one of these faces belong to new teachers.

The newest addition to the art department is Miss Nadine Meyers. She is also the assistant director of the V‑Show. Mrs. Emelie Lechtenberg has joined the business education staff. Maine West's new intern counselor is Mr. William Lyons.

Three new English teachers have joined the staff. They are Mrs. Susan Bruce, Mr. John Graef, and Mr. Phillip Kardasz. Mr. Kardasz is also an assistant football coach. Miss Marsha Hyatt and Miss Kathleen Van Ness will be showing the girls how to do exercises in physical education. Miss Hyatt will also sponsor the Aquiana swim club, while Miss Van Ness sponsors the dance club.

The home economics department has also added three new faculty members, Mrs. Alison Best, Mrs. Charlotte Hetrick, and Miss Suzanne Horgen. The boys in the industrial arts department will be answering to Mr. Paul Sable and Mr. Leonard Wilson. Mrs. Charlotte Riddle and Miss Heidemarie Rupp will be teaching languages this year. The mathematics department has added Miss Marsha Schwartz, while Mr. Michael Cuthbert joined the music staff. Mr. Cuthbert directed the band during the summer. Teaching social studies this year are Miss Eleanor Baldwin and Miss Janet Rauch. Finally, the science department has added Mr. Vernon Wiersema.

A warm welcome is extended to all the 1965 faculty members from all the students at Maine West.
