GAA Offers MW Girls Sports, Fun
G.A.A. A GO GO

G.A.A. A GO GO is the only way to describe this year's Girl's Athletic Association and a go go is exactly what they are doing.

The girls at Maine West are really in store for a swinging year with an even more active association. There will be such exhilarating activities as archery, hockey, tennis, camping, gymnastics, volley ball, basketball, badminton, life‑saving, and golf. Then there are such social activities as mother‑daughter, daddy‑daughter play nights, play‑days, awards dessert, and the newly developed all school play night.

In addition to all the activities, there are other clubs at Maine that work in cooperation with G.A.A. in offering girls sports recreation: Aquiana, Pegasus Club, Bowling Club, the tennis and badminton teams.

It should be an exciting year with all these activities and with the leadership of Miss Barbara Bovenmyer, sponsor; Leora Winski, '66, president; Karen Schacht '66, vice‑president; Carol Currier '66, secretary-treasurer; and Carol Winn '67, intramural chairman.

In addition to the other activities there will be an increased dance program. G.A.A. is a club that not only offers an outlet for young teen‑age energy but also teaches an appreciation for sports, physical wellbeing, and the value of sportsmanship. As Miss Bovenmyer says, "The purpose of G.A.A, is to allow young ladies to participate in sports," and it seems that it will give the Maine gals this opportunity in this year's G.A.A.
