Dear Foster Parents,
Our lunar New Year or Tet was here and with it spring returned bringing much happi ness and hope for us. I pray and hope that your family enjoys the best of everything. If so I would be most happy. Over here my family is all safe and cheerful like every day, thanks to God.
Dear parents,
last December 22, 1965, I received from you a sum of 590 piasters along with two bed mats, eight meters of printed material, three cakes of soap and one package of candy. All my family and I do thank you a great deal for all your affection with regard to me.

Dear parents,
the year of the snake was gone and it is now the year of the horse. Our school closed for 12 days on the occasion of Tet for students to merrily celebrate it. Really it was much fun. Workers and shops all stopped work to enjoy Tet. During Tet everybody was cheerful and went and wished relatives well. Adults gave small children small cash gifts. On New Year's Eve I got complete new clothes and shoes from my mother. Early in the morning of the New Year's Day I rose and could not sleep as I was too overjoyed. I wished my parents well and they advised me to write to you and to tell you many things and to wish you all happiness, joy, freshness, and every satisfactory thing. Allow me to close now.
Respectfully,
Hoang Nhut My
