With dark brown hair and eyes, Miss Janet Rauch, 5' 6", is an all‑around teacher. She teaches U.S. history, economics, government, and democracy. When she finds spare time, she reads, does Lawndale tutoring, and spends some time at the Sears YMCA where she works with potential dropouts. She also co‑sponsors Tri‑S.
Miss Rauch feels that Maine's students are enthusiastic and aware. The only thing she says against them is that they lack consideration in study hall. The thing she likes most about the students is that they say hello even when they are not looking for "brownie points." She noticed that the students she has for just a semester are still friendly when they are not in her class.
Since she has been here only a semester, Miss Rauch does not feel that she is qualified to criticize Maine, although she also was a student teacher here.
"Scholastic excellence is the most important thing at Maine," Miss Rauch believes. She also adds, "Stand up and be counted. Be an individual in and out of

class." Her pet peeve is people who will not stand up for what they believe. Her other pet peeve is the way the washrooms at Maine are positioned, because they can become confusing when one is tired.
Miss Rauch attended Montclair High School in Montclair, New Jersey. She then studied to be a teacher at Northwestern University. Her hobbies include tennis, bridge, and skiing ‑if one can call going skiing once a hobby.
"G", as some of her friends call her, has spent her summers as a waitress and camp counselor. Last summer Miss Rauch and a friend traveled all over the United States and Canada. She feels that going with a friend is the best way to travel. San Francisco rates number one as her favorite city, and New York is rated as her number one state.
This summer she plans to attend summer school. She feels that being a student in college is great and a lot different than attending high school.
