In Council

Congratulations are in order for the newly elected Student Council officers Doug Chase and Mary Holm. All of the candidates worked hard and well on their campaigns. At the Student Council banquet held just before Election Jitney the candidates were each presented a scrapbook with which to remember their campaign week. Each scrapbook has space provided for the candidate to save his or her speech.

John Bleharski and Marilyn Skeppstrom returned to Maine West for the dinner. John and Marilyn were last year's president and secretary of Student Council. Pat Clement '67 was voted most valuable Student Council member. Pat is president if AFS.

On the agenda of coming events are the Viet Nam Care Drive and the installation of Student Council officers. Council is at present evaluating its work for the year. Lynne Struebing says that any student with criticism of Council should put his criticisms and suggestions in the Student Council suggestion box. This period of evaluation will help your Student Council improve in coming years; so do your part.

Plans are under way for the living pictures assembly. Nancy Carlson is preparing the script. Mr. Garth Boyer will narrate, and Rich Hudson will direct the music. More information will be in the next issue of the Westerner.

Due to spoiled fruit and trouble with refunding money Student Council has voted to remove the apple machine.
