Intramurals

The Intramural wrestling tournament has been completed, and the events were divided into frosh‑soph and junior‑senior divisions, according to Mr. Miley Hotchkiss, director of the intramural sports program.

In the junior‑senior class Carl Burval was the heavyweight wrestling champion; Arlan Johannes won at 190 pounds; Larry Hofmann defeated his opponent at 180 pounds. Wrestling at 165 pounds, Tom Pifke outlasted his opponent; at 154 pounds Burt Lucas won; Fred Wascura was victorious at 145 pounds; and Steve Wischweh won at 135 pounds.

In the frosh‑soph division there were six winners, as each of them beat an opponent of the same weight class. The heavyweight champion was Tom Mackey; Pete Whitson won at 165 pounds; Carl Dudezak won at 154 pounds; Bill Schultz was victorious at 145 pounds; and Kevin Sherwood won at 120 pounds.

Intramural basketball for sophomores was delayed; and Coach Jorndt's third period PE class, with Lee Rodin as captain, won the class championship. Members of the team were Gary Kalas, Gordon Shining, Gary Davis, Larry Lovelace, Frank Maximchuk, Gerald Boeckenhauer, and Larry Nelson.
