Upon receiving an emergency call from the Maine West High School, the Des Plaines Rescue Squad swiftly sped to the scene.
Entering BO‑2, they found the student, Hunt Blunt, in dire need of aid. Miss Weep, the presiding teacher, wept at the predicament. It seemed Hunt Blunt had accidentally stuck his thumb in the pencil sharpener in pursuit of his bubble gum which accidentally had been stuck on his pencil point which had been stuck in the pencil sharpener (puff‑puff). On removing the pencil, he found that his bubble gum had been unavoidably detained in the hole.

Anxious to get his bubble gum back, Hunt Blunt unthinkingly stuck his thumb in the pencil hole. When he tried to pull his finger out again, he couldn't.
After four hours of excruciating work, the Rescue Squad finally achieved their purpose; and Hunt Blunt's finger came out with the bubble gum stuck to the end.
Sharpened by this episode, he thanked the squad, and blushingly turned to Miss Weep who in turn gave him five detentions for chewing bubble gum in class.
The moral of this story: Stick to sharpening pencils if you want to get the point.
