The Latin departments of the three Maine Township schools will hold a tn‑school banquet for all Latin students. The banquet will take place on April 23 in the Maine West cafeteria.
Of the students attending 40 will be from Maine East, 30 from West, and 35 from Maine South. All will be required to dress, according to Roman custom, in togas.
This banquet will be held in honor of Latin Week, April 23 to 30. This year the motto of Latin Week is "Latin is the Sun in the Universe of Languages."
Served at the banquet will be olives as appetizers, eggs, apples, beans, beets, chicken, ice cream, and wine. Following the dinner will be a program of skits put on by the students.
The program includes "Numptiae Romanae," a Roman Wedding; "Fernandus Taurus," Ferdinand the Bull; and "Idus Martins," the Ides of March. These are all sketches presented by students from Maine West. From South is a "Trip Through Roman History" and a musical number. East will present a portrayal of Latin students in all parts of the world.
