Music Department To Present
Annual Fine Arts Festival

At 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, the curtain will rise, and the Fine Arts Festival will be underway. The Festival is the last main event to be presented by the Music department.

The groups participating in the Festival are Concert Band, Show Band, Concert Orchestra, A Cappella Choir, and the Choraliers.

Two numbers that will be featured by Concert Band are "On the Trail" and "Hello, Dolly." "On the Trail" comes from the "Ground Canyon Suite," which is a musical description of the Grand Canyon. "Hello, Dolly" was written in Hollywood for the Disneyland professional stage band.

The Concert Band will also present "Circus Extravaganza" in preparation for their appearances on CBS television this summer. This presentation will cover a circus parade in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Show Band will present the following numbers: "Have Vine, Will Swing," "Paviovania," "How Do I Look in Blue?" and "Freedom, Shout."

Highlighting the Concert Orchestra's program will be solos by Chris Haarvig '66 and Jon Koumoungis '66. Chris, who is presently concert mistress and first chair‑first violin, will solo in "La Folia" by Corelli.

Jon, who occupies first chair in the viola section, will solo in "Concerto in G Major for Viola and String Orchestras."

The program for A Cappella Choir will consist of "Choose Something Like A Star," "Zum Gali, Gali (The Pioneer's Purpose Is Labor)," "Great Day," and "The Heavens Are Telling."

The Choraliers will present "May the God of Wit Inspire" and "My Lovely Celia."

Tickets for the festival will cost $1 for adults and $.75 for students. All tickets will be sold at the door, and Music Booster Membership Cards will be honored.
