Students Earn History Awards

Jim McNurney '67 and Norine Meister '67 were named co-winners as the Best American History Students. Both, Norine and Jim received a medallion and a parchment from the DAR and a $25 Savings Bond from Tri‑S. Tri‑S is the social science club at Maine West.

Mrs. Virgil Liptrap, a representative from the DAR chapter in Park Ridge, made the presentation to Norine and Jim.

Mary Beth Moll '67 and John Wolf 67 were named as the runners‑up in the contest.

All students who are currently taking American History and who have a B average were invited to take an examination. The high scorer on this examination was named as the Best American History Student.

The examination consisted of 115 questions to test the knowledge of the participants. The 30 students who scored a grade of 85 or higher were honored by being admitted into the Historical Society.
