Varsity Diamondmen Win
Conference Title

The Maine West varsity baseball team won their sixth straight Conference title after defeating the Palatine‑Conant Cougars, 14‑5. The MW Conference record was 7‑3 and their overall record was ten wins and eight losses.

The varsity baseball team beat the Wheeling Wildcats, 11 to 5. The Prospect Knights squeezed past the diamondmen 8 to 6.

Bill Gastorf '66 pitched two no‑hitters in a row. St. Viator's was his first victim. The hitting Warriors scored one run and held on for the victory. Forest View came up next for Gastorf, and this time our team combined for four runs.

Palatine won a close game from the varsity baseball team, 5‑4. Gastorf took the mound, again, against the Wheeling team. This time Bill took the win but the score was 3‑2.

Bill Gastorf '66, Tony Gyssler '66, Rich Farias '67, and Bob Banger '68 were named to the All‑Conference baseball team. These four players were the outstanding players on the Maine West varsity baseball team.
