As the golfing season here at Maine West closes for the 1965‑1966 session, the Maine West Warrior stickmen have found themselves near the bottom in local interscholastic standings.
The Warrior stickmen, as it has been mentioned in previous issues of the Westerner, have had to overcome the effects of having their entire team made up of new, inexperienced golfers.
Though the members of the Warrior golf team do not have the experience found in several years of interscholastic competition, Coach Eugene Zuccarini has found that the members comprising the team have a great deal of natural skill and talent. The talent inherent in the Warrior stickmen will be developed next year sufficiently to let the other schools of the District feel the sting of the Warrior team.

Coach Zuccarini's theory toward this talent development received a few more bricks for its foundation on May 24 when the Warriors presented a threatening challenge to the Wheeling Wildcat golf team. The young stickmen put up a professional effort to knock out the opposing Wildcat team. When the action was over and the final scores were tallied up, to the Warriors' dismay, they found themselves beaten by the Wheeling team with a score of 367 for Wheeling and 345 for the Warrior team.
Coach Zuccarini commented, "Everyone is shooting better than ever before." It appears that this statement has much validity considering the scores of previous meets. The Maine West stickmen have some hard competition in their District. The stickmen of next season will have the greatest competition that they have ever had before, such as the new State champion Palatine team; but the Warriors should do much better next season than they have this season.
