"This year's Student Council has done more and has been more efficient than any other Council at Maine West. It looks like a great year," says Steve Wischweh, our brown‑haired, blue‑eyed 5'9" vice‑president of Student Council.
"Wish" likes just about everything there is to like about Maine. He particularly likes all of the kids and the athletic teams. "They're the greatest," was his comment.
Steve dislikes painting windows uptown especially when he ends up painting himself instead of the windows. He also chided that the authorities on this matter are Pat Silk '66, Nancy Simek '66, and John Larson '66.
Among his hobbies are his car, which is appropriately titled the "Wish‑Mobile," food, music, and dancing. Music seems to be the most prominent, for he is taking concert band as well as being in the Maine West marching band.
The best thing about MW is the spirit at the basketball games. "The funniest incident I can remember is when a bunch of my friends and I went: to eat at Howard Johnson's. It seems a new waitress waited on us, and she had us in stitches when she dropped one of our turkey dinners and mixed up our orders All in all she was quite confused!"
His future plans include college at possibly Drake University where he would like to major in music or advertising. Oh, yes, his big plan for the future is to "GET RICH."

"Their high school years will be what they make of them." This is the advice that the 5'7", blond‑haired, blue‑eyed Linda Markowski gave to the underclassmen of Maine West.
Linda finds that being treasurer of Student Council is a ball. When asked what was the best feature at Maine, she replied, "I think that Maine has the greatest students when it comes to spirit." The only thing she dislikes about Maine is the homework. "Because Maine's standards are so high, you have to expect a lot of homework." Her pet peeve is trying to get organized and have the whole thing ruined by losing something.
Lin's hobby is dancing. In her spare time she works at the Jewel and writes to a certain "somebody" down at school. Another pet peeve is people who join school activities and then I don't do anything to further the aims of that club or organization.
When asked how Maine could' be improved, her only reply was "I can't think of a way to get rid of homework so I don't think anything can be done to improve Maine."
Linda's most embarrassing moment occurred on her first day of school as a senior. "I dropped my English book; and when I went to pick it up, I tripped." Another time she was explaining a difficult exercise to a class of freshmen (she's a senior leader); but when it came time to do it, she was the only one doing it wrong.
Besides being treasurer and a senior leader, Linda is also a member of Aquiana. She will be in the club's annual show. When Linda graduates, she hopes to attend Northern, Chicago Circle, or the University of Illinois.
