Coach Views Basketball

"The Maine West squad will continue to show tradition which it has established in the past." This was the prediction made by varsity basketball coach, Mr. G. Freeman, on the upcoming basketball season. In Coach Freeman's mind, the Forest View and Mt. Prospect teams will be Maine West's most formidable adversaries.

Basketball is an action-filled, fast-moving, strenuous game; and Coach Freeman has found that any boy who comes out for this

sport must be willing to work and follow instructions. Having a genuine desire to play is also a must.

Mr. Freeman views school spirit and the backing of the teams by the students as a definite help. The sport of basketball, to Mr. Freeman, is a character building game. As he commented, "In my years in athletics, I have found that when there is a good sound athletic program, you will find excellent scholarship‑the two go together."
