ACT Offered

"The American College Test must be taken here at Maine West on Saturday, November 13, by those seniors who wish to apply for Cook County or Illinois State Scholarships," stated Mr. Wayne Rosenquist, chairman of the guidance department.

The student information bulletin says that the items on the test are designed to measure the student's performance on the kinds of intellectual tasks typically performed by college students. Along with this part of the test there is the Student Profile Section, where there are questions about certain interests and previous schooling.

The ACT is necessary for admittance to any of the state schools in Illinois, and many other colleges across the country. A total of 586,200 students have taken the test so far this year.

Four weeks after the examination, the scores will be sent to Maine West; one copy for the person who took the test, and one for the school records. Copies will also be sent to the institutions and agencies chosen by each student. A perfect score on this test is 36. Two other opportunities to take the ACT will be offered at later dates in February and April.
