MW Seal Will Be Set in Floor Lobby

A feature of distinction will soon be added to the west entrance when the school seal is set in the Maine West lobby.

As an honored tradition at Maine East and South, West students should be happy to receive such a gift. A gift it is, too, for the Class of '65 donated a portion of the money to be used for such a purpose.

The seal was designed by Mr. George Blanas who for many, many months worked on it. After discarding his first design, he began another drawing which was finished and then accepted.

The emblem itself will be in bronze. A three dimensional effect will be achieved as the letters surrounding the emblem and the emblem itself will be raised. The terrazo surrounding the emblem will be of white cement mix. Embedded in this mixture will be four different colors of stone‑one shade will be for the background; one shade will be for the school; another will be for the border, etc.

In the words of Mr. Herman Rider, "I appreciate all of Mr. Blanas' help on this project" as does the entire student body.
