What's special about cross country at Maine West? "Mr. Barringer! He gives us boys a lot of enthusiasm before each meet. He's really great!" says Bob Schraw, '66.
Bob, who has already earned one letter in cross-country, feels that, "You'll improve only if you work hard." He advises any boy interested in this sport to do just that. This 5'9" warrior has hazel eyes, brown hair, and would like to see more spectators at the cross‑country meets. His favorite sport is hockey because "it has a lot of action; consequently, Bobby Hull is his favorite "Big‑Time" athlete.
Although he utilizes his study halls, Bob still finds it hard to keep up his studies with all the practicing that must be done. He is looking forward to enrolling in either lIT. or Michigan State University and majoring in architecture. He dreams of "designing high‑rise apartment buildings and becoming a multimillionaire."

But while he's still at Maine, Bob wishes that he could gain twenty pounds. He consumes a wide variety of foods; even though he's tasted fried ants and grasshoppers, he prefers Rice‑a‑Roni.
Bob's pet peeve is wrestlers that go out for cross‑country. His hobbies include dates and "wrecking things."
"Legs that I could go through one season without having to miss a single meet" is something that Bob wishes he could have, for nothing disappoints a runner more than when he injures his foot and cannot run.
When asked what he considered his outstanding meet, Bob replied that all the meets are exciting; and no one can be singled out. To determine whether or not it was an exceptional meet, several things must be considered: the attitude of runners, the weather, and the competition.
