Maine Wins, 34‑14 One Game Is Left

Maine West smashed the Forest View Falcons Saturday, by a score of 34‑14. Maine's touchdowns came in all quarters but the third, and Forest View's came in the second and fourth quarters. West touchdowns were scored by Ryden, who scored two, and Pabich, Mandelky, and Kautz, who scored one: each. Forest View's scores were made by Dunnigan and Boesenberg. This score put Maine in a tie for second with Forest View.

Midway through the first quarter, Maine had the ball on Forest View's 17 yard line, with a first‑and‑ten situation. A short gain took the ball to the 15. On the next play, Steve Ryden (35) ran off left tackle for the score. The extra point was kicked by Norm Skelly (40). The score came at 7:24.

At 10:22 of the second quarter, Forest View scored. Dunnigan (44) received a pass on his own 30 and ran all the way for the score. Boesenberg (10) kicked the extra point.

In the same quarter, Pabich (21) scored. The ball had been advanced, by a series of runs, to Forest View's 34. Pabich (21) broke loose on Forest View's 23 and went all the way for the score. Skelly again kicked the extra point.

Maine's final score in the first half came with 17 seconds left. After runs by Ryden, Mandelky, and Kautz, Maine had put the ball on Forest View's 11. Mandelky (25) ran the right end for the score. Skelly kicked the extra point, and the score at the half was Maine West 28, Forest View 7.

Neither team scored in the third quarter, although Maine did get to Forest View's 10.

Maine's final score came at 8:12 of the last quarter. At 10:22 Maine had the ball on Forest View's 22. A short plunge got three yards to put the ball on the 19.

The Maine West J.V. squad was smeared Saturday by a score of 34‑0. Forest View was able to score in every quarter, while Maine wasn't able to come through at all. The J.V's now rank third in Conference. On Oct. 23, however, the J.V.'s pounced over Conant 34‑0, and the week before creamed the Knights 21‑6.

Tomorrow both the J.V. and varsity squads will meet Wheeling for the final games of the season.
