Exams Coming Soon

CEEB Tests (College Entrance Examination Board Tests) are coming up soon. These tests are for seniors planning to enter college. The tests consist of two sections‑Scholastic Aptitude Tests (SAT), which are 90 minute tests in math and English, and the Achievement Tests, which cover approximately 20 areas from which the student chooses three, each being one‑hour long. Possible scores for the tests are from 200 to 800 points on each area of the test. These tests are required by virtually all colleges across the United States.

The SAT portion is given in the morning, and the fee is $4.50. The Achievement Tests are given in the afternoon, and the fee is $6.50. Tests will be given here at Maine West on Saturday, December 4, Saturday, January 8, March 5, and May 7. It is not necessary to take both parts of the tests on the same day.

There is also a Pre‑Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) for juniors, which is a sample or warm‑up preparing them for what to expect when they take the senior CEEB Tests. They are taken during the fall and are divided into two parts, English and math.

The Student Council sponsored Thanksgiving Record Hop is coming up on Tuesday, November 23. Tickets will be 25 cents. The hop will begin at 3:15 p.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. Dress will be school clothes.
