Tankers Host Proviso West

The varsity swim team has been practicing hard this last week because the first swim meet is next Wednesday, after school, in the Maine West pool. The tankers will host the meet against the Proviso West swim team.

Coach Harold Baer of the varsity swim team still hopes the juniors can come through this year for a good season. All the swimmers' hopes are up, and everyone is looking forward to the start of the season.

The only event that Coach Baer thinks will be filled is the 200 yard individual medley where Chris Olander '69 will probably be swimming. The distance swimmers this year may be Marc Bonnivier '67, Larry Harrison '67, and Jim Konz '67. Norm Hudson '67, a returning letterman, will probably be seen swimming the 100 yard

backstroke. Gary Robbins '66 will probably be doing the 100 yard breaststroke most of the season.

The December 17 swim meet to be held in the Maine West pool has been changed. The swim meet will still be held here as a home meet, but Maine South and Maine East will attend and turn the scheduled dual meet into a triangular swim meet. This meet will be the first time that Maine West swimmers have swum against the Maine South swim team.

Next Saturday at 2:00, the Maine West tankers will be host to the Waukegan swim team in the Maine West pool. The first two swim meets of the season are non‑conference meets; this gives the swim team a chance to organize the events before a conference meet.
